News today comes in full force as we dive into detail on the newest episode of the Making Of series where the rumoured new simulation Five Isle showcased at this years E3 2012 is confirmed. Additionally, Otherland's Lead Sound Designer, Thomas James Slater tells us all about himself in a newly released article on Creating Sound.
New Simulation Preview: Five Isle
Five Isle is a new simulation focused around Asian-style architecture and design. Five Isle is based upon 5 ancient Chinese elements that basically govern the way the environments in the simulation behave: Earth, Air, Fire, Water, and Metal. It has been broken up from one large island into 5 different fragments, each of which possesses its own unique environment based off of 1 of those 5 elements.
Fire Fragment
The fire fragmnet in Five Isle is designed to be a sort of apocalyptic, chaotic scene where destruction is present all around you. You will be able to see lava erupting from volcanoes, structures and trees or forests on fire or burnt to the ground, smoke and ash particles floating through the air, and just an overall sense that the area is going through a great deal of destruction. Additionally as you venture through the zone the musical aspect of the area is meant to be very dramatic to heighten the fact that there's danger everywhere.
Earth Fragment
The Earth fragment is portrayed as nature-like with very lush, vibrant forests and plant life. The idea behind the Earth fragment is that everything is supposed to have a life or a soul and you're supposed to feel like nature is present with you as you wander through the environments.
Water Fragment
The water fragment on Five Isle is designed to be filled with water and water structures. You may find anything from water falls, towns built over top of water or rivers, [speculation]and even the possibility of underwater adventuring.[/speculation]
Air & Metal Fragments
Not much has been said about what we can expect in these zones, however enemies that players face throughout the zones have been equipped with not just scales or thick skin, but with exotic, metallic pieces of armor and weapons that are otherwise alien to anything we've seen in nature.
Creating Sound Interviews Thomas James Slater
Earlier this week Creating Sound interviewed Otherland's Lead Sound Designer Thomas James Slater. The interview is a biography into his life and explains a lot about his thoughts on sound design. If you're interested to hear about an agent in the field of sound design this is definitely something you want to read!

Hey everyone! It's been a little bit since I've made a post but we're back with Otherland news for this month. We'll start by recapping what has been going on in the community and displaying some of the released screenshots and contests. We also have some interesting things happening in the next few weeks such as (possible) contests and giveaways, so keep on the lookout for that.
Just a little aside, we still are aiming to be the Number 1 fan site for Otherland; we're simply waiting for the game to actually be released before we go wild with posts. As we get closer to the release you should definitely see more activity. We also want to get our wiki up and running with information about the story of Otherland, so stay tuned for contests surrounding that as well.
Lets get on with the news!
Otherland Poll: Which element in Otherland is most important to you?
A poll has been on going for the past few weeks promising screenshots for every 100 votes! If you've missed this poll you should definitely get your vote in. Two screenshots have already been unlocked and we're nearing the third!
Google+ Hangout with the Otherland Team
The official Google+ page for Otherland proposed a question a few days ago asking the community if it would be interested in participating in a Google+ hangout during testing periods. If you're interested, let them know by +1'ing the news post.
Official Otherland Facebook 2500, 2600, 2700, 2800 Likes Unlock!
Otherland is slowly creeping up in popularity and has reached 2800 likes and released a few brand new screenshots! Want to see more media content? Refer your friends to Otherland. Also don't forget to like Otherland NetFeed as well!

Otherland NetFeed Returns!
Hey everyone! Otherland NetFeed is back from a... shamefully extended vacation... Yes unfortunately some unavoidable, life changing things happened, but life goes on and Otherland NetFeed continues to exist! I do want to apologize for the absence of any news or sign of life around here but I plan to get back in the groove of regular posts considering Otherland's expected release is coming up very quickly. We're already almost in Q3, with an expected release of Q4! Should be pretty exciting over the next couple of months.
