Community Contest Progress Report: 10%, Otherland Beta Delayed, 10 Minute Gamescom Gameplay Video

Today's news post covers your progress so far on the Community Contest as well as a couple announcements that came out today! We received news on the status of the beta that was supposed to be scheduled for this weekend, and lastly a new 10 minute gameplay video has been released from Gamescom. Keep reading past the break to find out more!

Community Contest Progress Report: 10%
After just 3 full days of the contest we're already at the 10% marker, well, at the time of writing this post it's at 11% so that's even better! While it may not seem like the bar is moving that much you're actually pushing it at a rate of about 3% per day (since the meter gave you a bit of a head start

).

There have been a few updates to the meter:

The official contest page has leveled up and now properly shows its percentage sign under the meter in both places.
The meter was not friendly with some browsers and has undergone some self-repair.
The totals calculated now recalculate and update every 15 minutes to reduce some server strain.

I'd also like to shed some light on the details of the contest since there have been some questions around it. The contest is meant to drive our social media outlets to increase hype for Otherland. That being said, it has some pretty high goals set in terms of follower/like counts, but we believe that we can achieve these goals over the course of this contest with the upcoming beta testing and the delivery of the new official site/forums.

When the meter nears a particular milestone, the prize for that milestone will appear faded near the percentage, and will become increasingly more visible as you get closer to unlocking it.

One more thing: you can expect the first prize at 30%, and the "getting close" point at 20%.

Otherland Closed Beta Delayed
News came from Community Manager "Dust" this morning announcing that the scheduled Closed Beta Testing for this weekend has been delayed to some time in the near future. We hope that this means until sometime next week, but there are unfortunately no promises this time around.

Most of you have been anticipating news of the Otherland closed beta test (CBT), and we'd like to take this opportunity to give you a few quick updates!

It was widely reported at Gamescom, as well as from a few leaked gamigo announcements, that the CBT would begin on or around August 24th. While this was a close estimate, the CBT will not begin this weekend. However, we are quickly working towards it and you can expect to hear additional announcements in the near future!

10 Minute Gamescom Gameplay Video
In addition to the previous 1 minute-ish gameplay video we saw a few days ago, we are now able to view a 10 minute gameplay video of an experience through the starting area of 8 Squared.
